She stood at the edge of the cliff, her dress catching the wind like a sail. The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in bruises of purple and gold. I watched her silhouette against the dying light, knowing this was the moment everything would change.
The letter in my pocket felt heavy, heavier than paper should. Heavy enough to sink a man. Heavy enough to make me wonder if I should have come here at all.
