During the day, the solar cell in each tile charges an internal battery. When pressure is applied (like a footstep), the stored energy activates a micro-diffuser that releases fragrance from replaceable cartridges.
Each burst lasts 15-30 seconds, creating a momentary sensory experience. The fragrance cartridges last 2-3 months with regular use and are easily replaceable.
