A grandmother in diaspora puts on a headset and suddenly she's standing at the base of her village minaret at sunset. She raises her hand, and her granddaughter three continents away appears beside her. Together they virtually ascend the pagoda's tiers, the grandmother sharing memories at each level, while the granddaughter leaves virtual offerings at the top. Tears stream down both their faces as they realize geography no longer separates them from the places—and people—that made them.
