Transforming 40,000 tons of annual nail salon waste into life-saving emergency housing
We collect keratin waste from nail salons and transform it into sustainable 3D printing filament for modular, igloo-inspired emergency shelters. Solving two massive problems: industry waste AND the need for rapidly deployable, eco-friendly disaster relief housing that can withstand extreme temperatures from -20°F to 110°F.
A disaster relief worker unboxes a flat-pack shelter kit, snaps together interlocking curved panels (inspired by igloo geometry) that feel like warm, durable plastic - but they're told it's made from recycled nail clippings.
Within 2 hours, they've assembled a tornado-resistant tiny home that stays warm in -20°F weather, and they realize this "waste" just saved a family.
💡 Every shelter kit = 500kg of keratin waste diverted from landfills
