HauntAR lets users virtually 'paint' over modern cityscapes to reveal historical ghost buildings and cultural sites from the past. Using a livestreamed collaborative painting interface, multiple users anywhere in the world can simultaneously restore pagodas, palaces, and temples that once stood at GPS locations, layering accurate historical details and textures onto a 3D canvas.
You're standing in a modern Tokyo parking lot, open the app, and suddenly see a beautiful Edo-period pagoda rising from the asphalt in AR. You tap 'join restoration' and your paint strokes appear simultaneously on screens across 12 countries as you and strangers collaboratively paint the weathered wood back to its 1800s glory, with palm leaves rustling in the virtual wind.
